One World's. We have bamboo chopsticks, bowls, trays, handbags, baskets, cutlery,
lamps, and wall hangings - even bamboo towels.
About Bamboo
The ecological and social benefits of bamboo are impressive. For one thing, bamboo
is a highly renewable resource. Bamboo is a grass, and it grows like one, with some
species growing as much as two feet a day.
When harvested, bamboo does not need to be replanted. New culms grow directly
from the existing root system, and can be harvested in as little as two months.
Bamboo is good for the environment in other ways too. It checks erosion on
mountain-sides where it can be difficult to grow other crops. And as use of
the plant increases, so does the standard of living for some of the world's most
economically challenged populations.
Bamboo fiber functions excellently when used in towels. Bamboo absorbs moisture
readily, plus it contains a natural antibacterial, anti-fungal agent. If you're
the type who tends to leave your wet towels in a heap, bamboo might be the answer for you.
If organic cotton
is more your style, we've got that too. Come to One World
for organic, undyed, and unbleached cotton towels, sheets and
blankets.
About Organic Cotton
Most people consider cotton an all-natural fabric. But conventionally grown cotton is actually
the most heavily sprayed field crop in the world, accounting for 25% of the planet's
insecticide use and more than 84 million pounds of pesticides every year.
The pollution continues even after cotton is harvested, with traditional processing and
finishing methods that employ an array of toxic chemicals that include arsenic and formaldehyde.
Does that sound like something you want to tuck your kids into at night?
Our solution is to offer textiles made from certified organic cotton. Every set of
organic cotton sheets we purchase keeps 1.25 pounds of chemicals out of the environment.
That's nothing to sneeze at, but it's not the only benefit. Our supplier buys
exclusively from family farms - no less than 2,500 of them. So even as they contribute
to a cleaner, healthier environment, these products are helping to preserve a way of
life for farm families and their communities.

Center of the World's philosophy has always been to promote highly skilled artisans
